About me!

SAMBIL

 is a Chinese-Canadian artist based in Edmonton, AB, I am most known for creating a lovable sticker collection featuring a mash-up between animals and rock climbing titled Climbing Creatures.Everything I make is handmade with love and time. Outside of my artistic pursuits, I enjoy exploring the city on my bicycle, playing with my cats and occasionally I work as a makeup artist on film sets during my downtime.

From the beginning

From a young age, I found my passion for art through anime and manga such as Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Shugo Chara!, and Weekly Shōnen Jump. Despite not coming from an artistic family, I was captivated by the vibrant worlds. This early inspiration led me to pursue art classes throughout junior high and high school.

The journey

My artistic journey began with character sketches and evolved into experimenting extensively with watercolors. I gravitated towards painting animals and flowers, drawn to their beauty and the nostalgic connection to my mother. Watercolors fascinate me for their fluidity; activated, they dance with colors that can be opaque, transparent, or metallic. I adore the process of layering colors to create unique hues and striking combinations. This love for bold colors is evident in my digital artworks, where I explore an even broader palette.

Where to find

My artwork has been featured on the label of Strathcona Spirit’s Birdie Booze, an electric blue lemonade spirit. Annually, I participate in ShroomDrop, a global event where I contribute whimsical mushroom-themed art prints hidden in my city.

My stickers and paintings are at Makers in Southgate Centre.
